I had no need for my new Palm to go on-line . . . I was just looking for the BIG 4 (calendar, addressbook, ToDos, Memos). It also lets me tote around downloaded pics (of grandchildren, vacations etc., 100s if I wish).
I would go on-line w/it, if I wanted to purchase the service. But w/my trusty PB there is no real reason.
When I discovered that there was a GPA device available for the Palm, I bought an extra 2 gig SD card for its maps, to buttress the 1 gig one I already had for photos and "overflow", which hasn't yet occurred. What I found was that photos and the maps of California occupy the 1 gig quite nicely, while the maps for the rest of the US (incl Hawaii) and Canada fit comfortably on the 2 gig number. I doubt that the "demands" of my travels will ever create any necessity to swap cards, except in the most languid of circumstances

Some Palms have ports for external keyboards, for the folks who are heavy typists with such devices.

I doubt you will, however, since Palms are set-up through connections with your Mac. Especially important for all the initial data, e.g. >1000 addresses and phone numbers; 200 jpegs - to date; etc.
