Price was right.... Said it would work w/ OS 8.x..9.x.... so I sent for the wheel mouse... as I had been wanting to try one out anyway.
Got here Saturday.... PROBLEM(s)....
The current mouse connection on my G3 is in the middle of the key board and the new mouse with it's USB adapter won't fit into that space.
So I thought I'd just try and plug it into my 2 slot USB card as I don't always use the Zip 250 drive that is using 1 slot. ERROR MESSAGE... "cant find drivers for this device...etc".. Went to M$ and downloaded current (vs 2.3.2) drivers and installed... no problem.... restarted computer. ERROR MESSAGE...."Can't find drivers for this device....etc"
I can find the extentions and perfs that were installed and some other M$ files that were also installed. But the mouse refuses to function. I does 'light up' but no motion...
Not that $9.00 is much or that I can't return it, but just wondering what if anything I should try next? OR is this something that is incompatible with my 'puter??? See sig below...
TIA for any and all assistance.

I used a MS Optical with my 6400 and a USB Card.
You need all the Mac USB Extensions and the MS Drivers.
Don't have it now.
Someone else may be able to help.
It should be doable.

I'm wondering if you have ALL the required USB extensions. Download the file here: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/4509
After it has been unstuffed and the image mounted, but all the items from the "Extensions-Applebuilt" folder on the disk image, into your Extensions folder and then restart. This will install the very latest USB drivers available for OS 8-9.
Good luck

I can't take all the credit, I just took kelly's answer and expanded on it, luckily in the right direction
