OT - What are you listening to at the moment?
« on: December 20, 2006, 02:19:23 AM »
I think we may have had a similar thread previously, but I make no apologies for reviving it....

At this moment - Chris Rea, Stainsby Girls.
But every track this morning has been a surprise - I went into iTunes library (or 'Music' as it now appears to be called) and hit 'shuffle' smile.gif
So already today, I've heard Carly Simon, Tom Paxton, The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, Simon & Garfunkel, Steve Earle, Supertramp, Roxy Music, Madness, the Kinks, Stevie Nicks, Alison Krauss, Bob Seger, Roxy Music, Everly Brothers, Tina Turner, Chet Atkins with Mark Knopfler, Jim Croce ...

The best is when you have to go back to the screen to find what is playing because you haven't heard it in years...  clap.gif

Classic FM and when I hear something I like, I go to eMusic and download it.

I have found some really nice music like that and re-found some I had forgotten.

I thoroughly recommend Christian Forshaw's Mortal Flesh - it is fantastic.  Makes me cry!

Commercial on local classical music station. Really!
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

In my usual eclectic manner

Ali Farka Touré - African Blues
Doctor Who - The Feast Of The Drowned read by David Tennant
The Clash - The Essential Clash
and
The Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not

Edit

After watching The Killers video, again...

Now listening to

The Killers - Sams Town

I wonder what Ray Harryhausen thinks of Tim Burton's use of his stuff?

From turkey day to 1/2 I listen to Christmas Music. I have a lot of Christmas cd's and I just keep shuffling them through. I know them all by heart. hehehe

Early in the morning, though, I turn on KROC (the local am station) to catch the local news, then I switch over to 100.7FM and catch the news from the rest of the county.

Then it's back to Christmas music. Ask me again on 1.2. wink.gif

Coincidence time - hadn't heard of Julie London for years until a biography turned up on our BBC4 TV channel at the weekend, and now her name crops up again. My wife (still getting used to calling her that!) couldn't place her even after I mentioned her biggest UK hit, "Cry Me a River" - only when it started playing, then she recognised it. But she is 10 years younger than me smile.gif

At present playing "Dusty (Springfield) in Memphis" - very pleasant to help wind down the day...

As I post this, one of my favourite playlists in iTunes:

Everybody Hurts Sometimes - REM
Eye in the Sky - Alan Parsons Project
Another Day in Paradise - Phil Collins
Take it Easy - Eagles
Hotel California - Eagles
Lying Eyes - Eagles
Listen to the Music - The Doobie Brothers
Takin' it to the Streets - The Doobie Brothers
Danza Matinal - Spyra Gyra
Fool's Overture - Super Tramp
Clocks - Coldplay
I Hope You Dance - Lee Ann Womack
With or Without You - U2

Listened to Beethoven's 6th Symphony earlier today while reading.

Often listen to my vinyl collection, bought a retro "Record"player and set it up in my basement where I keep my record collection.  The first time my son saw and heard it he was "blown away", now he sometimes listens to the Beatles and Stones, says the "scratchy" sound is interesting, what ever that means!

Johan
Hmmmmm. I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm not sure that what you heard is what I actually meant!

And what was your reaction as you bought 45s and LPs and heard your parents playing their old 78s? smile.gif  . Mind you, my dad was more than happy to get an LP to replace a symphony divided into six 12in 78s on an autochange player. biggrin.gif

"Soldiers Joy" by Gid Tanner and the Skillet Lickers (~1932)
Ignore the argumentative nature of this poster. He is old and can't engage in meaningful dialog very long.
Therefore, management asks that you at least humor him. Thanks.

Lots of Christmas Blues, yes there are plenty.

And also listening to regular and classical Christmas music.

There is so much good music out there for us!
Thats why I just might NOT get a new keyboard for myself,,,,,,,,
