Not sure about 10.1, but look in System/Library/Coreservices - check the version of the Finder.

If you shut down the machines, then boot again, the IP numbers can change this way.

You can set the router to MAC address for each machine to the specific IP number.

2007 / WHat's up with iCal
« on: April 15, 2007, 09:10:16 AM »
If you select 'iCalalarmscheduler' in Accounts/Login Preferences then hit the - (minus symbol) at the botttom of that list), it goes away only temporarily as iCal overrides this setting and pops it back into the list. To turn it off and keep it off go to iCal preferences Advanced and check "Turn off alarms when iCal is not open".

Since you don't use iCal, trash the iCal folder in your User/Library/Application Support

Trash the iCal plist file ''com.apple.iCal.plist in User/Library/Preferences

Go to the Accounts PreferencePane and remove the 'iCalalarmscheduler'

Restart.

My Tiger DVD became unusable to install from.
I was able to make a working copy using Disk Utility;

Step 1. Insert the retail Mac OS X Install DVD into your drive.
Step 2. Launch Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities).
Step 3. In Disk Utility, you will notice a white pane on the left hand side. In the pane, select the Mac OS X Install DVD by clicking on it once.
Step 4. Click New Image on the Disk Utility toolbar.
Step 5. A dialog box will appear. Give the new image a name. 'Mac OS X Install'. Select the destination where you wish to save it. Leave Image Format at Compressed (default) and Encryption at None (default).
Step 6. Click Save to begin creating the image.
Step 7. Once your image has been created DO NOT mount it. Leave the image alone and proceed to the next section.

Burning the Image
Step 1. Launch Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities).
Step 2. Click Burn on the Disk Utility toolbar (upper left).
Step 3. Navigate to where you saved the DVD image created in the previous section. Click on the image file, then click the Burn button. Do not drag and drop the image file into Disk Utility during this step.
Step4. Insert a DVD when prompted and proceed to Burn it. (use good quality media)

There should be a tiny hole near the entrance. Open the flap and look. Push a paper clip in there to open it. May be hard to push.

You could connect the two machines using an Ethernet cable and turn on file sharing to transfer the files.

Software Update checks the Receipts folder when updating. You need to leave those in there.

If you have the .pkg files somewhere else from the download, I would save those.
I save everything I download and burn to DVD when the folder gets to about 4GB.

Try this.

Disconnect which ever Ethernet cable you have plugged into the back of the machine.

Plug the Ethernet cable from the Farallon adapter into that Ethernet port.

Plug the phonenet adapter (round plug) into the printer.
Boot into OS 9 and see if the printer is reconigized.
