Tech / E- Mail worm
« on: July 02, 2010, 06:45:41 PM »
I seem to have picked up an e-mail worm on my IMac. It has been sending e-mails to people in my address book. I downloaded clamx-av and ran it and it said I had a worm called bagel I ran the scan again and had it quarantine the worm and then secure empty the trash. Next day it's back, so I went to the Apple store and got a copy of Virus Barrier 6 it found nothing and everything was fine for a couple of days, now today it's back. Two days ago I trashed all my e-mails and my address book and the Mac has been turned OFF for two days. Any ideas on how they can send e-mails from a computer that isn't even turned on ? « on: December 16, 2007, 12:51:50 PM »
Today I backed up my internal HD using Disk Utility. When I started I had 152 GB free. I now have 214 GB Free. I checked the folders using Time Machine and I have the same number of items just 62 GB more free space. Anyone have any idea where the extra 62 GB came from ?

While checking my "Login Items" I found ATI Monitor, in fact there was two of them. They are supposed to be in Utilities/ ATI Utilities, however there is no ATI folder in my Utilities folder. Spotlight and Easyfind can't find them either. Think it's safe to delete them ? sos.gif

2007 / Auto Booting
« on: April 19, 2007, 12:24:29 PM »
This problem just started yesterday. I shutdown my IMac (10.4.9) last night, it was on this morning. I shutdown to go out to lunch, came home to find computer running. Shutdown and went upstairs, as I was entering the room (about 5 minutes later) the computer started up all on its own. I checked System Pref., nothing was set in the schedule. The only new software I installed was an update to Eyetv, but I removed that about an hour later. Any ideas as to why my IMac is turning its self on ?
