What happened...

We are back... again smile.gif

A few weeks ago, I came home finding my internet modem offline.
I called BT to hear what was wrong (it was actually the telephone line that was dead) and they told me that I couldn't had a telephone connection.
They insisted once, even when I said I had the connection for 3 months but I guess they noticed something must have been wrong on their side since I also have the internet from a different provider using that line.
I took them a couple of weeks (more than 3) to get us back to the telephone network, and an additional week to get the internet reconnected.
At the end it seems that BT had switched hardware in the exchange box and either forgot to connect us again or simply thought we were wrongfully connected.

That was last thursday but in the mean while we went to Belgium for my sisters wedding smile.gif
Back in London now, and finally able to get a little message on TS.

It seems to become a habit for me to dissapear wink.gif
But why can't I do that when I really want to dissapear... hmmm

Tell them it doesn't work unless they plug it in. biggrin.gif

You've missed alot of good discussions here.
Never fear, I will e-mail them all to you right now.... Let's see what BT thinks of that! wink2.gif
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

Glad you are both okay and hope the wedding was inspiring. biggrin.gif

Mrious_Be - Is this a "dial-up" type connection or a more broadband type?  Just curious about what is "usual" in GB!

I reckon that it will be an ADSL broadband connection. The number of dial-up connections in the UK is in free fall. I doubt that any new connections are anything but broadband.

As to what is "usual" in the UK? How long is a piece of string? It's all tied up (I know I know, start the groans now)  with the recent(ish) history of the telecoms industry in the UK. I can give a potted history if you like but I don't know that folks would be too interested.

Can you condense it to less than four sides of A4?  biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Marcel:: Get on to customer "services" and demand a refund for the time you had no service. Well, if you don't ask it's highly unlikely they'll offer. rolleyes.gif

I guess I could demand a refund but I'm just back to be online honestly.
I did ask BE Unlimited (Internet) and they said I should print out my montly statement and claim it back from BT.
In a way, it's never a bad thing to ask.

Smiley is doing well and working a full time job here.
It's a very interesting company (satelite navigation for vessels) and she can do the housestyle for that company (company branding, design etc etc...).
She loves the job but sometimes it's hard (for both of us) to understand the London (British?) way of working (don't to much besides the things you been asked for, or in contract).

But oh well, everything is going well and we just have to find a way to adapt to the London way of things wink.gif

We do have an ADSL connection yes.
But we did a lot of research on the providers in London and the main rule was, do not choose a mainstream provider since they all gave a crapy service according to several reviews we found online.
So then we stumbled on this provider called BE who was the first to offer ADSL2 in London.
We went with them (but not ADSL2) and they are really great.
we are having really fast speed on an (almost) continiously base.
Only sometimes we have to reload the browser when it seems that we lost connection, but I think it's just because the connection is so fast it gets confused sometimes wink.gif
To be honest, BE has a scheme where I can get a deal when I give them new customers... but I don't want that since any new person on the network might slow my speed up tongue.gif lol.
As far as I can tell, BE offers the best service from all the companies I have  had to contact for some service or another.
And that is BT, HSBC, HM Revenue, Agencies (all crap with one exception for one person) etc...

But as Sandy said, I shouldn't get started here wink.gif
I'm back and that's all that matters (I am learning not to stress out over those matters).

The wedding was really nice.
Nothing to fancy and for a relative small amount of people, but maybe that's why it was a good time.
The day after me and Karman went for a day in Brussels.
We had really lovely weather to walk around, had some traditional Belgian food (now that made up for my Easter Weekend).
I had rabbit (the Flemish way) and Smiley had a dish called "Gentse Waterzooi" which is chicken in a creamy sauce and also typical Belgian (Gent or Ghent is the city where it originated from).

BTW, I might drop out again in 2 months since we are moving out here tongue.gif just so you already know wink.gif

Marcel

From what I know you made a VERY good choice with BE. They have a good reputation. Reliable, quality service and good CSR's. Also very important they will NOT be using Phorm.
