2003 / Mommy that man smells!!
« on: December 20, 2003, 10:36:39 PM »
The other day I do my normal shower and head out to work.
That day happened to be a lot of heavy ground grunt work.
Around noon I stop by the house to get a bite to eat and see that I need some dog food etc.
Run back out to the rat race and stop at the local market afterwards.

Standing in line .... "Mommy that man smells!!"

Can't say anything what ever at the kid so you look up and up and up at mom.
Think she already had a run in with Tyson ... every military combat unit on the planet even!

Paid and left shaking.

Dreambird WAS THAT YOU????? ... as I run the low ground again .... <gr>

2003 / Bootup problems with the dual G5s?
« on: November 12, 2003, 08:48:00 AM »
Heard (through a friend) that his associate bought a dual G5 thru the apple store.
From day two it would take three, four, five trys too bootup.
They went through all the normal self test [buda {or whatever it's called}, reseting pram, re-seating ram-sound card etc) before calling apple.

The apple guy on the phone ran them thru the same test plus some others [which I didn't get any details] with no results.
Was told to send it in for repairs.

Afterwards they said somewhere on the apple forum that there are a lot of folks with the same symptoms.
I couldn't find it.
~then again, you know how apple deletes threads with negative vibes~

Has anyone else heard about this bootup issue?

"We are now on Storm Watch, hear comes a big one folks, go out and buy new rain gear, etc etc blah bla."

They are all talking about half inch too one and half inches of rain overnight sometime soon.

I'm either laughing at these yoyos or telling them to get a grip on the rest of the planet! smile.gif

possibly on my end?

System preference > startup Disk.
When I decide to zip off to another partition/drive from Panther the startup disk sometimes does not recognize a partition that has an active system on it and quits.
At first I thought I had it pin-pointed down too my apps partition but now I'm not sure.
I also thought 'networks' had something to do with it. Still not sure.

>>>> btw AL. I'm loading your movie now <<<< <gr>

I've ran all the utility test including permissions and disk repair.

Doesn't happen every time but ...

I think this all started when I used CCC to copy my 10.2.8. over to an empty partition on another drive and then installed Panther on top of the original 10.2.8.

Using those 'F' keys with a few programs going on the desktop.
When I scroll the mouse pointer over one of the enabled programs, they turn a greenish color. Can't seem to find where to correct this.
Second is when highlighting .. say a folder or pic on the DT it gives off a 'lime' appearance. Can't find where to change that either.

Below I combined a snapshot of both.

Could the first be that Panther played around with my monitor settings maybe?

What is the cd burning speed of your built in cdrw drives?

Reason why I'm asking is because my brother just bought a 1.2.5. single and I was surprised (just today) to find out it has a max of 32X through toast.

but I've been running around a little where folks 'now' have had their dual G5s for a bit and it doesn't seem (or appear) that there's much talk like nifty, keen-o-jet, far out, my bitchin speedy blah blah etc etc.

Kind of wondering about two possible roads here.

1) *They* really didn't live up to there expectations without 'panther' and its added -kick start-.
So they're all installing panther hoping.

OR

2) They all are watching the new "hulk" movie, how the east was won, getting ready to jump over the Niagara Falls buck naked [btw. That last guy that just did the jump, had to of been fake .. somehow], or just plain forgot how to type keeping us {more precise - me} in the dark on what's the skinny.

Even though I've played with all the G5 flavors in retail stores and one dual that was maxed out with 8 gigs of ram, I've yet to see how they really cook for hours personally.
So I more or less have to rely on honest, trustworthy, helpful, -however the rest of that boyscout jive goes-.

My short (controlled) experience with the G5s gives me the impression they're not all that they are cracked up to be.
OH. Sure. Much faster with basics that one is allowed in a retail stores.
Even the dual with 8 big boys of ram, I really couldn't play around with much because *they* were doing a massive multi-able on-going daily test of the ram. Besides, it was hooked to a 15" low resolution monitor.

Is this 'non' talk about the G5s confirming my over-the-hill imagination?

After all ... while I was typing this, I kept having this picture in my head of CyberPet, Dreambird, Audrey (and few other Canadian linked gals) doing a swan dive over the Niagara Falls buck naked with KPS instructing them on the how-and-don'ts. smile.gif smile.gif

2003 / Customizing the Safari toolbar?
« on: October 20, 2003, 04:12:18 PM »
Mainly (for now anyways) is getting a 'print' icon up there like I can do with Camino or IE.

I know about safariicons or whatever it's called but why isn't this feature built into the browser already like the others?
Or am I missing something?
