MacFixIt has a solution for the slow booting of some Macs using 10.3.2.

Haven't tried it myself yet, though.

Spatracus, I did try that and it did work (for me). It shaved about 25 seconds off my start up time. Since doing that however, I have heard that the fix/remedy somehow impairs future SW updates. I don't know if this is true and understand little of it. Still, I have subsequently run the restore: sudo rm /usr/sbin/BootCacheControl.

P.S. Since running the Restore (and verified that it took), I have again timed my start ups. And the improved speed continues.
