$&*#@!! ATI 7000,,,
« on: April 19, 2003, 11:12:00 PM »
Worked for awhile...
Now, after wasting more time than I can spare, I'm giving up.

Working on huge art files, I needed more video.

So, because Gary S got one and he's my idol, even though it's a little close to the leading edge for comfort and I think it's ugly and pretentious though I like the name, I bought me this    QUICKSILVER

It's already got the $&*#@!! video card in there.
...and it's deductable.

Happy Leader Day Gary.

That's a good price.

I believe Beacher has one.

I think the Quicksilvers are really nice looking.

Maybe it will grow on you.

That added Voodoo card maybe won't run in OS X.

But you probably don't care.

You should have Jaguar installed on it.

Just to play around with if nothing else.

Hope you get/got the CDs with it.

You can probably sell your ATI Card on ebay for a decent price.

Have fun.

Snuffy,

Well! Congragitations.

You got a really good deal.      The eBay thing said it comes with all the backup disks and the System Disks so like Kelly said, I hope you get them.

You can put 2 hardrives in there easily if you need more room or want to put OS9.2.2 on a separate disk.

"because Gary S got one and he's my idol". Well you know what Charles Barkley said.

Use it in good health! You'll have more speed too.

Be sure to let us know how it shakes out.

Congratulations on the new purchase, Gary!

You could keep your old machine around to run your scanner! That's what I've resorted to, for now. My old machine is used also to connect to my old LaserWriter.

Congrats, Snuff!  Don't know whether mine is a Quicksilver or not, but it IS a 733.  The bezels on mine are square, not rounded, and the speaker hole is right under the doors, with an off/on button right below that, and under that are two very small reboot & another button that is still a mystery to me, and except when ordered to do so by a system update, I just leave that one completely alone!  Anyway, I know you're going to love your new machine!  And scanners are dirt cheap right now!  So have fun, bud!

Snuffy,

I'm using my G3 for scanning too. Scanners are pretty inexpensive these days but .......it all adds up.....Jeez!

Thanks guys. I guess I just have trouble bonding with 'puters that ain't square and tan.

Friday night, I was in the midst of posting how great the card was working, when the ol' beige tower locked up again. I think I really hurt her this time...Complete reinstall.

Snuffy,

I'd take the card back and get a different one. It must be the card or you haven't got the right set up with the extensions. I've been running that card in my Beige G3 with 9.1 and the OpenGL extensions from 9.2.2 and the ATI extentions from the July 2002
update from ATI, without a lick of trouble.

It's easy to bond with Beige.        I like it too

I'll probably give it another try, Gary...when I have more time.

I always did like to mess with the 'puters' insides...not always in a smart way.

I love my ScanJet 4c, circa 19 ought something. 8.5 x 14 copy area.

I just saw a scsi Epson Professional 12 x 17 scanner on ebay at less than $400. New around $2500, Always wanted one, but, now that I'm probably leaving scsi behind...*
Drivers only available for 9.0 anyway.

I'm going to stay where I am for awhile and maybe the trailing edge will catch up with me.

Snuffy,

On your Biege G3.....It dawned on me that you need to Zap the PRAM from a cold boot to reset the Video Card!

1)Shut down the machine. Don't just restart.

2)Hold down "Command-Option-P and R" keys while you boot the machine(Power Key). Keep holding down those keys until you here 5 chimes and then let go of the keys.

It will reset the card to it's defaults.

I'll bet that does it!

At least I hope so.

There's 2 733's. One's a QS and one's not.
