How to view DVD movie on MacBook Air?
(1/1)
Raven:
I would like to show a full length ski movie at our Club's opening event in November. I wanted to use an Epson LCD projector for a small audience, but it's not working.
I'm using a Sanyo DVD Player that allows me to play that same movie on my TV screen. Yet, when I plug it to my 2025 MB Air using the same HDMI cable and a Mac adaptor, I can't find the Player anywhere. I thought it might not be able to find a restricted movie, so I downloaded a "Video Bytee BD-DVD Ripper", but that cannot find my Player either. What's the secret to find the Player and show this movie? Is there a setting somewhere that I need to adjust, etc?
krissel:
Use Spotlight search for DVD Player. It is located in System/Library/CoreServices/Applications
If that doesn't work, try VLC player.

Raven:
I found the Mac DVD Player app, but it will not find the movie on my Sanyo DVD Player. I'm using a good HDMI cable and connections are tight. The Player works for my TV. All the Help support forums I have found base their info that the DVD is on the laptop which in my case it is not. It's on a separate device, yet it is not visible on the sidebar. Should it not be visible there? My laptop and Sanyo Player don't seem to be connecting. Not sure if this is a hardware or software issue. Any ideas how to fix?
krissel:
In Finder, go to Finder Preferences.
In General, be sure the CDs, DVDs and iPods is checked.
In Sidebar, be sure the CDs, DVDs and iOS devices is checked.
If all else fails, you could pick up an Apple Super Drive. Discontinued but still around.
