Are you talking about the small wireless keyboard?  That's what I have and have only had minimal errors. FWIW.
Yes, I do mean the (very) small wireless keyboard.  Ah well.  You must be a better typist than I.  Maybe it's my fat fingers and anno domini.   rolleyes.gif

Tech / Keyboard with iMac

Although a slick and avant garde looking keyboard comes with a new iMac, I'm not sure I like it as much as others I've used.   It looks a bit twee and hardly seems man enough for the job.   I find I make a lot more typos on it, particularly with the space bar which seems to need an undue amount of pressure.   I also find myself frequently hitting a 'b' or 'n' with the space bar.     Is it just my lousy typing or are there others similarly plagued.

My favorite board is the Macally, but sadly it needs to be plugged in and I've been trying for ages to rid my desktop  of cables.

If this post looks beautifully typed, It's only because I've spent then last ten minutes correcting it.  sweatingbullets.gif

Tech / Firefox & the disappearing 'Back' button

Why not re-install those add-ons, one at a time and determine which one is the culprit...if there actually is one? Randomly changing things, without keeping some kind of record of what is being done can deprive you of the extra features you liked/wanted/needed since you have no idea what actually solved the original problem. wallbash.gif Nor can others learn from you travails! eek2.gif We need all you 'bleeding-edgers' experiences! clap.gif

Well Jim, I've just Googled 'Firefox add-ons' and there seems to be hundreds!  However I've bookmarked the site and will slowly go thru and see which ones I fancy.  If my lovely new iMac blows up I'll know who to blame.   biggrin.gif

Peter, check the link I posted above. There is definitely something wrong with your Firefox - the back button should be there and if it's not, you should check the various options to restore it.

Paddy,

After going thru several options, the Back Button has reappeared.  Had to disable all add-ons but doubt I'll miss them. Many thanks.    thanx.gif

Thanks for the suggestion Jim, but I see no possibility of replacing the Back button in  the Customize menu.   I'm quite happy with Jack's suggestion of using  the right & left arrows

Tech / Firefox & the disappearing 'Back' button

Hi everybody!

I'm back after a long absence which has something to do with my decrepitude (nice word!) and lots to do with having moved from Leopard to the King of the Jungle.  Plus I am still trying to master the Track Pad.   But I'm getting there sloooowly.

But this query has little to do with Lion.  It's about my favorite browser.  Well, it used to be my favorite until I could no longer find the 'Back' button.   What's happened?
And how does one get back a page two without an app re-start?  wallbash.gif

Community / HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO TECHSURVIVORS!
« on: September 20, 2010, 05:00:41 AM »
I add my small voice to the congratulations, thanks to Dick reminding me.  Haven't visited for quite a while and feel (very slightly) guilty for not participating.  In my eight years with TS I have very many times been helped, so a special 'thank you' to those who came to the rescue and long may you reign.  Have met some good friends and learned a great deal via the site and my computer life would have been far far more hazardous without the many valuable hints and tips I've received — to say nothing of getting me out of real trouble.
Long may TS last and long may all the admin folk keep up the good work.  A heartfelt thanks to those of you who keep TS going.

2008 / Can't get to the Euro symbol on keyboard
« on: August 22, 2008, 11:23:28 AM »
Thanks Mayo. Got it!   Very odd. Last time I tried that I got the Trade Mark symbol, but I guess I wasn't holding down the shift key properly. Thanks also for the link — very useful.  You'd think after all my years with Macs, I should have been able to suss it out for myself.    I'm just one of the old dogs who hasn't yet learned the old tricks!

2008 / Can't get to the Euro symbol on keyboard
« on: August 22, 2008, 10:27:19 AM »
It's not often I need to use the Euro symbol (€), but it's irritating to have to go to Character Palette > Symbols and drag the beast to the document when the Euro symbol is shown on my keyboard, adjacent to the @ symbol over the 2 key.

I've tried using different European keyboards and holding down the 'alt' and upper-case key, but all I get on hitting the 2 key is ™.

I doubt you chaps across the pond have much use for Euros, but we poor Brits sometimes need it in financial jiggery with the rest of Europe.

Anyone got the secret?  Come to that, anyone got any Euros biggrin.gif

Paddy:  You've given me heart.  I shall stiffen the sinews and summon up the blood and I will let Apple know my view on WYSIWYG fonts.
Trouble is, I'm not at all sure how to make contact with the right folk.  Your guidance would be appreciated.
