Tech / A Small Orange
« on: December 09, 2016, 04:54:23 PM »
When I woke up this morning my website was down as well as my email account. I've had issues with this company but usually a quick email would resolve them, and I've never lost my website.
"This Account Has Been Suspended
Please contact the billing/support department as soon as possible. "

I use the usual email address that I've had since Tim Dorr invited me to join them when we were at NoWonder, but today I get a reply that says they no longer use email for Help. I have to sign into my account to acquire a Code # and use it in a Chat window. The problem is, I can't access my account...hello. 7.5 hours later and still no joy, frustration is mounting, when they finally suggest that I contact (via email) their legal department. security requires that I produce a code and without it they can't even tell me what's wrong.
I'll tell you what's wrong.... but your not going to like it.
If this is the future I want something else.
Can anyone recommend a Mac Happy Web Host.

Tech / Quicktime plug-in_ El Capitan
« on: November 05, 2015, 03:34:17 PM »
Greetings,

FYI/ I've upgraded from Mavericks to El Cap and discovered an issue that was vital to me. For some unknown reason El Cap moves these two plug-ins from the plug-in folder to the sub-disabled plug-in folder, resulting in Safari alerting me that I needed to install a Quicktime plugin.
The warning provided a link to Apple so I went to the page, but there was no plugins. I was at a loss and needed access to my surveillance systems.
An internal search led me to the <Internet Plug-Ins> folder, inside the folder was another folder <Disabled plug-ins> and there sat two that appeared to be QTime related. Needing to view my cameras I risked relocating them to the active folder and presto, back in business again.

nsIQTScriptablePlugin.xpt
QuickTime Plugin.plugin

I don't know why this happened, so subsequently I searched for more info only to discover that others have had the same experience and solution.
That made me a little better, at least confident that my Mac wouldn't over react from the switch.

Tech / iPhone mysteries
« on: July 19, 2013, 03:55:41 AM »
Hey anybuddy, Since T-Mobile gained access to Iphones I decided to purchase one (5) for my significant other who thought it would be a smooth transition and communicate well with her Mac, Horsefeathers I say!

My first surprise was when I tried to connect Mac & iPhone through bluetooth only to discover they won't. I'm guessing there's an app for that but really, should I need one?

My experience with this phone has not been great, and though I know I need to give it more time, it's painful. I feel like I got out of a Jaguar and into a model-T.

Is there anyone out there who has gone from an Android to an iPhone that would have any tips or drugs or something to help with the pain? Please ;-)

All of the sudden, 13-year-old Caroline Jensen started jumping up and down.

She had an app for this.

"We can track him! We can track him by GPS!" Caroline told police.

SPDY: Google wants to speed up the web by ditching HTTP

Google isn't content with providing us with fast search and a fast browser: we need a faster protocol between servers and browsers. The search giant would like us to start forgetting about HTTP:// and learn to love SPDY://. Ars takes a look at the proposal as well as its strengths and weaknesses.

2009 / For T-Mobile users looking for a new twist
« on: November 06, 2009, 02:05:55 AM »
I've acquired a new Equinox pocket phone from Sony Ericsson loaded with neat options. The phone was released Oct 28th and it's new to me. I also have an SE 506 so I was use to the form factor.

The main reason I got it was for it's Voice Dialing feature which I can Sync to A Blue Ant headset and command dial without moving. The phones comes with a great built-in GPS and a outstand sounding FM radio, email, and web…. and you can use the Omni 5 browser. It's a Flip Phone, which I prefer, small thin and built quite well.

The cost is $49 after rebates, the contract is 2 years @ $49 per month. I just extended mine. You can push mail though a Blackberry port if you need that option.

The phone syncs with Mac so your files move seamlessly. I like the blackberries and the Samsungs that I have, but a small flat flip-phone seems to suit me best.

This phone has light sensor technology. You call stop an incoming call by placing your hand over the closed phone. If the alarm in on, just pass your hand over it and it shuts it off. When a call comes in a light ring lights up in 5 different preset colors so you can tell whose calling from across the room, which matches my project colors in Entourage, really cool integration.

The Blue Ant Q1headset is an outstanding choice for sound quality, noise reduction, and remote call and answering. Light comfortable and $81 at Amazon now, it was $115 a few months back.

Tax collector: Pay online to avoid swine flu

Pinellas County Tax Collector Diane Nelson's office sent its annual news release reminding people the annual tax notice is on the way. There's a new wrinkle this autumn, though -- the H1N1 virus.

"One way to save time – and avoid crowds in this year’s H1N1 Flu season – is to stay away from county offices and pay online," today's news release says.

Does anybody know why a  8 core Mac Pro OS 10.6.1 would connect to a Airport Extreme network using 32 bit mode and not a 64 bit mode?

2009 / Cold Kitty gets a New Coat OS 10.6.1
« on: September 11, 2009, 02:53:09 AM »
Fed-ex delivered the Snow covered Leopard by noon and I couldn't play with her until late evening.

I immediately discovered that a GUID Partition was needed on my Boot Drive so I had to Wipe away the just completed backup to reformat the drive. Re-Backup the Mini's content with SilverKeeper and load ...by now a thawed-out Snow Leopard onto the drive. 45 minutes later the job was about to move into the second phase.

Al though I was loading the software from the mini into the Boot drive when it restarted in ended up on the boot drive. OooKkk

The DVD started to play Welcome to Apple and let's setup this Cat. I just ejected the DVD. a Pop-up appeared from TechToolPro saying it needed to install Roseeta. Then a pop-up appeared telling me that an upgrade was available. I click out of that and went on to investigate the furry little Kitty that lost it's way home.

I first noticed that all my Word Documents on the desktop were white text files and when I clicked them to open Text-Edit appeared. wot-woh i thought, Office is out to launch. I proceeded to open MS Word and and open the files from inside the program, they opened!!! and then quite mysteriously all the white text files turned into Word files....imagine that magic would ya?

Ok slow down and get back on track....run permissions and TTPro before proceeding.

Permission had two issues, and the one that i can remember had a warning!! It seems that a SUID file had been altered. Not knowing what a SUID file was I forge on.

I looked at the drive through TTPro 5 and there were a lot of fragmented files, large gaps on the drive and not how i keep things usually but i wasn't about to do a full Optimization when TTPro hasn't been tested on the Snowy Cat. I did defragment my files though and things began to smooth out on the drive, a lot of clicking where the drive was chasing fragments was gone.

One program affter another was opened and worked OK but some would suggest an upgrade....no thank you for now ..but i'll be back...Adobe Suite worked just fine but it wanted to upgrade the whole shabang..one app after another ...but still worked in spite of my dismissing attitude.

OK let's print..i just picked a Word file on the desktop and commence printing on the Brother 5-in-1 not an issue. Then onto the Epson but there was no Epson in the Printer box, a Click on OTHER quickly loaded a default driver, not Epson...according to the pop-up that said All my printer functions may not work..but it printed just the same.

the browsers all worked, Entourage Worked, Quickbooks, pagemaker, filemaker, on and on so i was pleased that there were no horror stories to report.

Now t's time to see what this update is all about, so i click on the Apple software link and it runs, and runs, and eventually it stops. Not at the usual window that shows you what your installing NO,no, no, its a box that looks like your heading that way so i clicked it and it started downloading whatever and then asks me for a password, goes into the default screen mode, loads and registers to items and then reboots. I've never seen an upgrade like that before and I didn't know it was 10.6.1 until i check About this Applesauce.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. wink.gif

The online Apple Store is down—it'll "be back shortly" with new iPod models, no doubt. But early this morning Apple dropped the prices of all its iPod nano, touch, and classic models.
