2009 / Apple Notes on iPod Touch
« on: September 11, 2009, 04:44:55 AM »
Wow.  It's been a ong time since I posted here.
A never ending source of frustration for me has been syncing my Apple Notes (in Mail) over to my iPod Touch.  How in the world do I get the notes on the iPod in alphabetical order like I have them on my Macbook?  To find a note on the iPod I have to go to Search.  Any ideas?  Right now, the notes on my iPod are all jumbled.

2007 / NWC Monitor and off/on
« on: December 16, 2007, 03:09:01 AM »
Just recently purchased an NEC Multisync LCD2470WNX monitor to use with my G5.  Oftentimes, I'll either sleep the G5 or just simply turn the monitor off.  When turning the monitor back on, it will come on and then turn off again, requiring another push on.  Just this morning, after sleeping the G5 for the night, I saw the small DVI Input window thingy flashing.  The G5 was no longer sleeping, but it took several tries to get the monitor to come on with the on button.  Each time I tried the little DVI window would come up with "no input".  It did finally come on but I'm getting a bit concerned.  I never experienced this behavior with a monitor.  What should I check into?  I don't see any settings that would cause this kind of behavior.  Could it be a faulty cable?

2007 / G5 Graphics Card
« on: December 12, 2007, 02:46:55 AM »
Now that I have a 24" monitor, I find I am using my G5 much more.  Much more.  Much more screen real estate.  The kids love it, too.  With some games, such as Nanosaur 2, I notice that there is a bit of stuttering in the graphics.  I have the original graphics card installed (NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 64 meg).  Is there any advantage of stepping up to a better card for games such as Nanosaur?  What other advantages are there?  Any card recommended?  I have an NEC Multisync 2470WNX monitor.  Thanks.

2007 / strange lines in PS images
« on: January 21, 2007, 07:48:23 PM »
Any ideas what may be causing these strange lines in my PS images when manipulating and correcting?  I have a fresh installl of OSX (10.4.8), so I would doubt it's an issue with video drivers.  The lines are a nuisance when doing work on an image.  I close the image and it's gone briefly.  No problems with printing.  Just viewing.

2007 / Printer sharing between XP and Tiger
« on: January 18, 2007, 09:52:08 AM »
Not sure if this is a Mac thing. For a long time, I haven't been able to get our PC upstairs to print to my G5 downstairs. Today I finally got Bonjour (Windows) to find my printer hooked up to the G5. With AVG Firewall installed on my PC, I also found that certain printing functions were being blocked.  I adjusted things on AVG's end as much as I know.   Everything seems to function okay on the PC end, as I can see the document "spooling" and then the dialog disappears but no print produced downstairs. I have printer sharing enabled on the Mac end. Any ideas where I should go with this? I'm baffled.

This is strrange! Went into my Canon print utility on my G5 and it is listing the failed documents as being finished! Now that is strange, since no paper has moved through the printer! There are about 12 documents that failed to print that are listed as finished.

Any help would be appreciated.

2007 / Where's my Applications?
« on: January 17, 2007, 09:13:39 AM »
Just booted over to my second internal drive on my G5 to do some troubleshooting with possibly bad video drivers. Anyways, I may want to use this Barracuda as my main drive now. In wanting to drag over certain applications, I cannot locate my Applications folder on my other drive. I believe it was showing as soon as I opened the hard drive on my Desktop. It's not there. Any ideas? I can't find it anywhere.
Update:  Here's the weird thing. I booted back into my drive and I can find all my Apps and Utility folder in my sidebar, but not on the drive. I click Get Info and the "where" states "/Applications." The forward slash- what does that tell me? I don't ever remember moving the Apps folder. There would be trouble with that. I do a search for Applications and the folder doesn't show up.
I just did a search for Utilities, up came 2 folders, one on each drive. I scrolled the window over and found the Applications folder on the root of my drive. I closed the window, double clicked my drive and guess what? No Applications folder. What gives?

2006 / Printers + 11x14 or larger
« on: December 02, 2006, 05:43:51 PM »
Has anyone been using any of the Canon PIXMA Pro 9000? If so, how do you find it? How is it on ink? Any others beside Canon that you recommend, that will do 11x14 or larger?

2006 / Linksys WRT54GS + user's manual
« on: October 08, 2006, 06:36:37 PM »
Would anyone have a user's manual for the Linksys Wireless WRT54GS router in pdf format?  Where might I get one?  I would love to know how to set the security features.  Had some company the other day that logged right onto my wireless.  I guess I don't have something set right.  Lots of other features I don't know how to set.

2006 / Photoshop question
« on: July 02, 2006, 11:03:00 AM »
I have an image taken with a flash and need to know how to lighten up on the edges where the flash didn't till as well.  I do the curves thing, but then that leaves an obvious outline of where the curve is adjusted.  What is the simplest, inobtrusive way to adjust such parameters on the edges which are darker?  I am using PS 7.

2004 / High Speed / Wireless
« on: February 06, 2004, 08:29:15 AM »
Just was on the phone with our ISP.  We've been on dial up, and are now considering High Speed (through the phone line).  I am unfamiliar with the whole set up, and am concerned with Mac compatibility.  We have 1 PC in the house and 2 Macs- a Pismo and a G4 Desktop.  First, I was told I need a Network Card for the modem I would be getting.  It's a 10.100 Network Card.  Where would that go (in my Pismo)- in the PCMIA slot?  What about on my G4 350 Sawtooth?  Would that be a special card I'd have to install?  And then, if we want to have all 3 computers on High Speed, we would want to go wireless instead of having all the cables.  Wireless requires a wireless hub.  Is this possible with a Pismo?  How would I configure my G4 for wireless?  Any good links for info on all of this?

2003 / Discrepancy in bytes??
« on: December 26, 2003, 10:13:23 PM »
A post evolving from my other post (disappointment in backup)- I have 2 identical folders- 1 as source and 1 as destination (distination being copied / backup with Deja Vu.  Source Folder size is 10.67 GB  on disk (11,446,417,844 bytes) and destination folder is 10.67 GB on disk (11.445,864,622 bytes).  I opened a folder of images inside the both folders that also was off in size and checked the size of each image in each folder, and they were identical in size, yet the get info on the folders didn't agree.  What's up??!!  And why does 10.67 GB end up being 11,446,417,844?  Isn't that 11.45 GB?  I just want to be sure I have a backup program I can trust without having to do get infos on individual folders.  That's rediculous.
