I leave my computer run 24-7. So I didn't notice this problem untill I tried shutting down yesterday. Whenever I try shutting down, the computer auto-restarts everytime. If I unplug the keyboard, it won't restart. But as soon as I plug in the keyboard, it starts up on it's own. I presume the problem is the keyboard. Any ideas out there? Thanks, Buck

What machine?
Yeah. it could be the keyboard.
Can you borrow another one?

My G4/466 does the same thing if I leave my USB card reader plugged in. I always have to unplug it before I shut down.

Buck, don't trash that keyboard just yet. Does the cable plug in at both ends? Try using a different cable first. I had the same problem once, and it went away after I replaced a cable. Good luck!

Thanks 4 the replys and input. I borrowed a keyboard. And tried a different cord to connect. It is the keyboard that went. Am I right in thinking this is a throw away item? And not worth the effort in having it repaired? Thanks, Buck

Depends. Is this the old mac ADB keyboard?
If it is you might be able to clean it, especially the Power Button.
I've found used ones for $5 around here.

You can buy a decent USB keyboard for under $25.
