I have performed a clean install of os 9.2.2 on my beige g3.
I expected that it would include (by default) a cd audio player,
obviously not., well at least I cannot find it.
Is it available as a download on the Apple care site, if so can someone point me in the direction of the site?
Grateful for any help.

Hi George,
In your Applications (Mac OS 9) folder there should be an AppleCD Audio Player folder.
-
Hi Al, checked the folder you suggested and the only item there relating to audio is simple sound.
Sherlock cannot find it either.

George, It may be worthwhile to see if you have iTunes installed. If so, that is what should be used to play CDs.

George,
I'll check my system when I get home tonight and let you know. If I've got it I will e-mail it to you if you wish.

Looks like you can find it on the Install CD George.
CD Extras Folder.

ITunes is far superior but may not be supported on a Beige.

Steve, Thanks for the offer but with Kelly's advice I now have it up and running except that even with a speaker plugged into the output socket there is no sound, yes, the volume is turned up on the player and on the control strip.
Harv,
if and when sound is restored I will look at the possibility of installing iTunes bearing in mind what Kelly has said about compatability with beige G3.

George, While I have not visited 9.x for quite some time now, I thought it came with iTunes.
Ah, the ravages of time and tide...

I use iTunes all the time on my Beige G3 with 9.2.2 installed. Currently, it's my main MP3 machine. Keep in mind, the latest version of iTunes that will work in OS 9 is 2.0.1, so you'll have to look a little harder to find that version.

Glad you got the CD Audio Player now...
You should be okay with iTunes, I have had it running on a beige G3 since iTunes 1 something... Now two of the beige boxes in my house runs iTunes 4. So far, no problems. iTunes even recognizes my Yamaha 6x4x16 SCSI CD burner.

iTunes also works on a pre/G3, been running it on my 7500 running 9.1 for sometime now! And I agree with kelly, iTunes is better, or at least better than the old CD player App. of the past, at least that is my (which is not worth much, just ask my wife) opinion!

To each of you I say thank you especially Harv, iTunes is now installed and performs beautifully, odd that iTunes generates sound whereas with the audio player there is still no sound.
Many thanks.
George.
ps
Wish other things in everday were as dependable as TS.

George, Glad to hear that all is again right with the world and that you may once again sing and dance.
Should you need/want the OS 9 versions of iTunes, they are all available at http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macos/9688
FWIW, I am running, with no problems, v2.0.4 on a G3 PB/333 Lombard.
