But I never had a single problem with my SCSI Zip Drive in the 6 years I used it.

Post by: Bill-R on May 27, 2006, 06:59:04 PM: I agree K1 - I never had a problem with any of the Zip Drives I have owned or used. I still have 3 and they still work fine and I have used many many more when I worked in the Graphic arts business. Now the Jazz drive - what a piece of junk. I have worked with many of these as well and they all died the same way. Insert disk - "CLICK" and nothing.

Post by: Jack W on May 27, 2006, 09:12:41 PM: I agree with K1 and Bill-R. I only ever had one Zip cartridge that failed me. And it WAS the cartridge.

Replaced it and threw it away. No problems since.

Altho, I now mostly use flash media since they are a lot smaller than a Zip cart and hold a lot more data.

On the list I agree most with IE 6 - a piece of holiest software ever. But yet there are many in the PC world still using it with ITs blessing. Job security?

My zips never were trouble (except for one bad cartridge out of dozens) but the Jaz drive died the click of death. I did get a refurbished replacement in the class action suit but never trusted it again.

Post by: Texas Mac Man on May 28, 2006, 09:38:17 AM: The Zip drive in my PM6500 (purchased new) died from the "click of death" after about 5 years of use. But it lasted longer that the HD which failed after 2 years.

Post by: rongold on May 28, 2006, 11:28:55 AM: My Zip 100 drive failed after 4 years of use with Click of Death. Replaced free of charge by local Iomega distributor along with 10 free zip disks. No longer use it since upgrading to iMac and USB ports and external firewire drive for backup.
