I saw this link on the LA Times website:
http://www.latimes.com/travel/la-tr-ntb28m...ack=1&cset=true
Hope it works but people are setting up a tribe on an island in the Fiji area. If I weren't 50 and encumbered I'd be on this like "ugly on a bulldog!"

You might not get any other bites on this topic unless other people are registered.
I wasn't, still not...
A quick summary, perhaps?

Well this is embarassing!
I can't get into it now anyway. I saw it at this link and it does lead you into the LA Times story just fine:

Everyone else . . . before sending any money, I suggest reading Jared Diamond's Collapse, given my surmise that there's a lot more to survival than windmills and pit toilets.
For starters, I suggest reading up on Fijian political conflicts over the past 25 years, including its 3 (or 4) constitutions and its 10 current political parties. Been in all the papers, donchano!
Permit me to suggest that Fiji from the Upper West Side of Manhattan, or Beverly Hills may be somewhat different than the reality.

Dick, unfortunately, it didn't come through. I got the "tease" but not the full article. The link "churned" awhile, then said it was done. Could be my System problems that are causing browsing issues. (See my latest Mozilla thread.)

This the Fiji link and provides the detail/background mentioned in the LA Times article.

OK, I get it.

Oh yes, one other thing.
Before the TS Delegation embarks, I think an unbiased committee of your peers (as appointed by the ExecComm) should pass how each of its members looks in a skirt!
I'm not at all certain tha The Gap has a store there . . . yet.
'Specially in the boondocks. Choose your Island . . . Maybe

Now that's taking 'time share' to a new level.

I was actually thinking of skipping the grass skirt and going with a T-shirt and speedo bathing suit; it won't be a pretty picture but that's everyone else's problem!

My brother was just in Fiji recently and Guadalcanal too. He was a guest lecturer on a university cruise(all expenses paid), and OH my GOODNESS are his pictures just beautiful! Snorkeling out of this world on some of the tiny uninhabited islands they stopped at. They ended up in Guam and flew home via Tokyo.
But I wouldnt want to live there full time.
But 2 weeks on a small 300ft cruise ship was heavenly.
