My first test was Mapquest, the original site I had problems with. Still do.
Somebunny else was 'complaining' that MapQuest made the fans race in her G5 iMac...
Maybe it's problematic coding at MapQuest?
Time to try Google Maps, p'raps?
It also may be that Mozilla and OS 9.2.2 are incompatible.

I've never had a problem with compatibility of Mozilla 1.3.1 and OS 9.2.2. More likely, the problem is with an older version of Mozilla and specific sites. Many aren't interested in supporting older browsers.
It may be time to upgrade to X.
This is a
picture of my WaMCom plugins, some of which came from SeaMonkey, the System X version of the Mozilla suite. They might be more up to date than yours.
You could check these against yours to see if you need any or want to try this bunch.
Thanks. I have copied your post, and opened the link in a new window to look at when I'm done here. I'm sure I won't find that many plug-ins on mine. Gotta look at the other posts now too...
You might btry this. Go to Moxilla>Preferences>Content.Make sure Enable Java and Enable Javascript boxes are checked. Sometimes FF has trouble with Java. Also, make sure you have the right version of Java installed. Unfortunately, I do not what is right for your system.
It also may be that Mozilla and OS 9.2.2 are incompatible. This is a likely cazuse of the problem as the OS is pretty old in computer years.

I do find that Enable Java is checked under the Advanced tab. I do not readily see Javascript. I believe I have investigated this before. Here are some curious settings - that is, I'm curious about whether I should change them:
Privacy & Security
>Cookies Enable all cookies? / Disable cookies in Mail & Newsgroups
>Images Accept from originating server only? / loop: As many times as the image specifies
I have all of my Mozilla pref settings recorded in a SimpleText document. It's quite voluminous. If anyone really wants to read through it all, I can paste it into a post here.
I'm having no problem with Mapquest, Wamcom's Mozilla 1.3.1 and 9.2.2. I punched in a city location, then another on the other side of the continent, and the map scans all directions and zooms in and out.
One other problem could be with the Internet control panel, under Advanced, then Helper Apps and/or File Mapping. This could affect all the browsers.
I also had no problem with Mapquest using the same versions once upon a time. So, I don't think it's an incompatiblity issue, kbear.
What would I be looking for in the Internet Control Panel "Helper Apps" or "File Mapping"? What are the "correct" settings?

Didn't intend to ignore your contribution...
I thought the same thing until others here reported no problems with the same setup, such as the post following yours, among others in previous threads.
My Flashplayer.xpt plugin has no version number, but Get Info says it was created and modified on Dec. 8, 2003.
nsIQTScriptablePlugin.xpt is Version 6.0.2.
The PDF viewer is 5.0.5.
QuickTime Plugin: 6.0.2
Default Plug-in: No version but created on June 30, 2003.
Default Plug-in Data's info is useless. It says it was created May 25, 2006. Maybe it re-creates itself.
MRJPlugin is Version 1.0b5.
MRJPlugin.jar was created June 30, 2003.
Shockwave Flash NP-PPC is 7.0 r63
I have the shockwave plugin NP-PPC-Dir-Shockwave., Version 8.5.1r02. You don't seem to have that one.
You have enough plugins for the browser to work properly in most cases. If any of yours have higher versions or if the dates on them suggest they're newer than mine, let me know so I can track them down.QUOTE
>Cookies Enable all cookies? / Disable cookies in Mail & Newsgroups>Images Accept from originating server only? / loop: As many times as the image specifies
Whether cookies are on or not shouldn't prevent pictures from loading. I disable cookies in Mail and Newsgroups. I don't use newsgroups, and spammers can use email cookies to find out whether your email address is legit.
I disable website cookies when I'm not on sites that require them, to prevent cross-site persistent cookies planted by ad farms and Google, etc. from tracking me across the net.
If Images: Accept from originating server only is enabled, it might be part of your problem. Many times, pictures aren't on a site's server but on another computer. Many ads, among other things, come from other sources, which might include MapQuest's map,
The looping-of-images setting doesn't matter as to the running of the browser. This setting can turn off or allow only one cycle by such things as animated smilies and some blinking ads.
