Well - meet the new Mrs Highmac
After nine years together we decided it probably IS going to work so popped down to the town Register Office and made our legal declarations. We took along our neighbours, Clem and Nora, as the required witnesses. The sun shone, but with a little hazy cloud to stop it being too hot and by 11.15am on 06/06/06 (no excuse for forgetting anniversaries) we were Mr and Mrs. We had asked if we could be married at six minutes past 6am but they said that would cost a LOT extra
. The registrar kindly pushed the button on the camera so we could have a pic of the four of us with Caroline signing the register.

You aren't the only ones: on a Chicago radio station yesterday, a caller was telling about a relative in California deciding last Thursday to get married on 6/6/6 at 6:06 - and they did it.
I also have a son born on 6/6 ('83) as was one of his uncles (not sure what year). It is also the anniversary of D-Day as I recall. And the birthday of an American patriot; Nathan Hale. Our son bears his name, but it was chosen before the delivery or our awareness of the coincidence.
Wishing you many 6/6 anniversaries to come....

For civil ceremonies (as opposed to uncivil?) the registrar (Hollywood would have us believe in the US it's a judge) pronounces the vows for the couple to repeat then, whether church or civil, the couple sign the register, the witnesses sign that the couple have signed, and then the bride is given her marriage certificate. I haven't opened TeeEss since early yesterday, so onlynow – while sitting in the airport lounge in Honolulu waiting for my flight back to the Mainland – do I read this splendid announcement. Warmest aloha to you both.

Sorry that I can quite seem to figure-out how to send along some plumeria aromas to further grace the occasion. a good substitute would be to persuade your editor(s) to send you on a Pacific cruise for more "objective" reporting about cruisin' the tropics.

Those riders have to be absolutely barmy. New lap record for 37.75 miles was well under 18 minutes - on ordinary town and mountain roads complete with houses, stone walls, hump-back bridges, 4in kerbs, people standing on the banks of the road....
