Made a big mistake - threw iTunes app away for some wierd reason! Stupid, stupid me!
Anyway, got a version of iTunes from my OS disks and it is iTunes 4.something. Downloaded iTunes 6.02 but it will not install saying I already have a version (god knows where).
1. How do I get it to listen to the new download and let me install that?
Also, now only got iTunes library on iPod.
2. How do I move iPod library to iTunes including playlists? Tried a few apps but got nowhere. If you know, please can I have a step-by-step method.
Sorry for stupidity.
I promise never to touch any application ever again. I am not qualified.
Thanks
Frances

Frances, since your iTunes application seems to have vaporized, you should probably make sure it is ALL gone. My guess is that the preferences from your old version of iTunes 6 are still there, so the installer thinks you're all set.
Check in your User->Library->Preferences folder for apple.com.itunes.plist and similar, and drag to desktop.
Your iTunes LIBRARY may still be intact - if you only threw away the application. It should be in your Documents folder. User->Documents->iTunes
And the most recent installer you used for iTunes may well be in your Receipts folder. I was somewhat surprised to find an enormous pile of fully functional installers hiding there; including the last version of iTunes that I installed.
main drive->Library->Receipts
(NOTE: NOT the User Library - the main one)
And once you get that bit solved, if you really did toss your iTunes Library as well, you can get it off your iPod, complete with playlists using
http://www.thelittleappfactory.com/applica...php?app=iPodRip
(make sure you turn off Auto-Sync before starting!!!!!)
You would have had to toss two entirely different files in order to have thrown out both the application and the iTunes library.
Let us know how it goes.
(Time for a nice back-up drive, perchance?
Me...I'm paranoid and back up to two different drives every night - one external and one internal!)
