I can't believe i just been reading 5 pages on the internet... completely.
That doesn't happen often.
Very interesting yes, let's just wait for another month or so

It's CD/DVD drive isn't working either, I'm hoping it was simply disconnected by the service people who replaced the hinges recently!
Anyway - interesting speculation and those new top end machines should be screamers. My dual 2.5 G5 is only two years old in September though, and still very capable, so I can drool all I want but can't justify something new.
Wonder what they'll look like? Perhaps something in black? Smaller? Brushed aluminum but different? Can't see them making them in shiny white plastic - too many of us park our machines on the floor and they need to be somewhat tougher cosmetically than the iMacs.
It will be interesting, no doubt!

I'll bet they do what they did with the notebooks, offering a black version for more money.

...and is at the moment sitting completely disassembled on my dining room table, halfway through a PCMCIA cage replacement...
Wow... and why are you doing this?
I mean, what does this PCMCIA card do? and with what do you upgrade?
Kinda dumb to show this on a website

As for the PCMCIA slot - no eject button = no ability to use the thing, since I wouldn't be able to get the CF card out of the adapter! The replacement cage was all of $19 - I hate to think what they'd charge to install it, since it really means dissassembling the entire Powerbook!
I got it all back together and discovered that the DVD drive really wasn't working - it must have broken in the fall that broke the hinges and I forgot to test it. The hinges I had replaced by PowerBookMedic.com - that required removing the display and playing with glue; not something I really wanted to try and potentially screw up!
So...had to overnight a drive from NewEgg (the nice new dual-layer Pioneer) since I'm leaving on vacation soon and installed that today, which thankfully didn't require anywhere near as much dissassembly!! Put it all back together and had a momentary panic attack when it made the required noises but had no video. Took it back to the dining room table and discovered I'd managed to forget to put the display cable back in! Whew!
I HOPE that this will keep this Ti going for a while now - it's been an expensive little beast over the last year, (though mostly due to damage inflicted by a less-than-careful 14-year old who is no longer allowed to use it anywhere but the dining room table) - the hard drive died a month after the 3-yr warranty was up last summer.

Marcel, my son managed to break the eject button/lever off the PCMCIA slot. I use it a lot when travelling - I have a PCMCIA adapter for my compact flash cards for my camera which is much neater (a little bigger than a credit card) and smaller than a USB card reader like I use with my G5...

Oooh... ok... now i know what you mean with a PCMCIA card (sort off)
That must have been a scary moment, finding out your screen doesn't boot anymore, i can imagine the feeling.
When i sold the processor and installing it at this guy's place, the computer didn't boot anymore... seems we still didn't press hard enough on the processor for it to snap in it's socket
Scary moments
Sometimes i think they calculate things to brake down just after warranty, lucky anough, a harddrive is not to hard to get.
The PowerBooks are way to much attractive, that's why your son just can't stop himself playing with it.
In a way, it's all Apple's fault

Sounds like a lot of work just to get the images out of the camera! Didn't it come with a USB cable? I can't remember the last time I took the card out of either my or my wife's camera. I just connect it to the Mac(s) and they get sucked right off the card by ImageCapture and loaded into a folder I have specified. I understand that iPhoto can do some of that, also. I do have to keep up with two extra cables, but I've never had either one break an 'eject lever'! I'm sure you must use the cage for something else, of course. Congrats on doing the repairs!
gunug, flying and repair work have a few similarities:
You should never have screws left over after re-construction ( especially if it is a helicopter ).
You should always have an equal number of takeoffs and landings.

doesn't that eat your batteries? Tried the usb cable route one time, batteries gave out mid way.....never again!

Not that I can tell. Even with my 'old' camera, it doesn't take more than a few minutes to download the images. And I normally have only 4 - 6 at a time and that takes less than a minute. All my batteries are rechargable, also. There's always a set in the charger or in the a carrying case when mobile. My camera tends to use the batteries a lot faster than my wife's, newer one, mainly because it drives the lens out of the body or back in every time it's turned on/off.Oh well, back to the thread already in progress...

Then there are some of us that have hundreds of pics on large cards...
I am not responsible your erroneous habits/behaviors!
( Many leave it at "He is not responsible." )Are you saying that you only delete the images you want to download? Or that you never delete any of them? I think I'd rather doo that on my Mac, from my own HD/Folder than trusting them to a portable, easily stolen device powered by batteries that you apparently get little use from...but as they say...

Just to throw a little more water on this issue. My camera is an early generation that does not have USB. Only the serial interface. Does not work with the MAC's I have. Have to take the card out and use a card reader. For the MOST part I love it.
