Title: Epson Claims
Post by: Jack W on December 01, 2006, 09:15:54 PM
Back in June, according to Rust Consulting, anybody that had purchased an Epson printer was eligible for money from Epson in the form of a check plus credits at the Epson store. This was for Epson setting up their cartridges to show no ink before they were actually empty.

So I dutifully filled out the claim forms, one for me, one for my wife and 1/each for two of my daughters. That was on June 21.

NADA! No word. No checks. no nothing NADA!

Was this a scam? Did it just rust away into oblivion?

Anybuddy else seen anything? Was I scammed?

- Jack

doh.gif Thanks for the heads up JackW....

I sent mine in about the same time and have had the same response as you  taped.gif
May I should take a ride up the road and check out the Rust redemption center.. they're located about 12 -15 miles north of us.... and are ALWAYS advertizing for new employees in the papers around the area.... me thinks they have a 'turnover' problem as I see the same positions advertized every month or so...

Yes Harv I remember that you had yours in the mail before I knew about it. I was just ignoring the notices, thinking it was advertisement. I thought that there would be a delay, but I didn’t know they would avoid the issue. I requested an update and time line about a month ago but haven’t received a reply.

I’m not going to hold my breath or spend a lot of time on it, but I will eventually look at the court’s directive to find out if they have exceeded their deadline. At that point I would imagine the Class Action Suit will be reengaged based on performance failures.

I deposited a $100 refund check from Epson on 3/20/06. That was for two printers, I think.

That check must have been for something else.  The final judgement was not rendered until October 23rd of this year.  It may, however, be quite some time before anyone sees any money or Epson Store credit.  Although the court  finally approved the settlement, benefits will not be available until the time for all appeals has expired.  All the info about the settlement is posted on the Epson Settlement Web site.  Direct urls:

I think you're right! The $100 was a rebate on a 1280 I bought back in January! And that way more than the refund should be, also. wallbash.gif

No rebate for us as I shredded all the papers when we moved and couldn't provide enough to file. sad.gif

FYI -  Claims have been approved and are being sent to those who applied.  I received two $45 store credits in the mail today and am awaiting a third, for which I requested cash.

Oh .... and by the way ..... even though the claims might be in hand, they are not yet good.  According to the claim letter, the credits will not be valid until the appeal period has expired.  No idea when that will be.  The letter says to check the claims Web site, where the activation date will be posted when available.  However, you need to keep the letter you receive because it is the only record of the unique code needed to receive your credit.

I missed out on this. What vintage? My Epson 740 is about 5 years old, so it's probably too late.

And don't lose the letter. It states that it has the "only copy of the code" you'll need when you ever use the $45 credit! Got mine in today's mail, also. Wish I'd asked for cash! dntknw.gif smile.gif
