Something has been going on for 9 days, but I doubt it's in our server sector.
As some are aware, there has been a lot of spam activity around among other nasties, so were on our toes.

If it's not the servers, then it must be something localized near them. I've not had any trouble surfing anywhere else all day nor last night. Perhaps the sea level is already rising in Jacksonville ( or where ever ASO is housed )?

I think if any public place is secure being close to the CDC would be on top of that list.
There are others locations that I considered but they were inclined to interfere. I had a server in Manitou co. near Cheyenne mt. for a while and it was never right. A friend has one near Camp David that's always on the fritz. North of Virginia is too busy and susceptible to Ice as is any place north of the 32 parallel.
Head west you have tornados, left coast rolling blackouts an Enron. Atlanta, with it’s Moss and Magnolias seemed like a place a server would enjoy.

Nope, location, location, loo..caa..tion. The location is close to a major trunk line; often underground or affixed on (wind rated) concrete poles high above the trees. When the lines go down the first priority is repairing the lines on the Emergency Artery, Commercial, Secondary and Residential locations follow.
The Atlanta location also offers extra capacity, something you wouldn’t find in a remote location.

It was the server we're on, but not the sector we occupy. In other words we're not causing the problem nor is the cause of the problem inside our domain.

I mentioned Atlanta and why I would look to the servers location as a last option.
Here's some likely options, but don't take then to the bank.
We are on a shared server with probably 40 other domains, and about 10 days ago they added a new domain that was hyperactive different times of the day. Or the server had a hyperactive domain that push the server over the edge as they added more domains, and/or it was a spam invasion that hit all the domains at once at different times of the day causing hyperactivity. The server stats do not indicate a volume issue (to many/to fat domains) or a strain under normal use. The memory use is well within it safe parameters so I see no need for it to write to the drive either.
The issue seems to be behind us now, I'm watching the stats at high-points of the day in 4 times zones, but I think they found the culprit.
