Title: Update Packages
Post by: kimmer on January 29, 2007, 12:03:32 PM
What do I do with them? I've already installed the security updates, but the packages are still sitting in my "Packages" folder. Do I just go ahead and back them up (just in case I need them again) and then trash them? Or do I leave them sitting there?

I put 'em on a disc and take them off the hard drive, but I don't know why. My hard drive is probably only about 10% full.

Software Update checks the Receipts folder when updating. You need to leave those in there.

If you have the .pkg files somewhere else from the download, I would save those.
I save everything I download and burn to DVD when the folder gets to about 4GB.

Thanks. Packages backed up and removed. Receipts untouched. More room on hard drive and I'm less confused. wink.gif
