I have a Powerbook G4 and it is not Recognizing my superdrive I'm running 10.4.8 and even the profiler is not seeing it any ideas?

Hopefully only a lose connector, but laptops can be a bear to disassemble. Just for a lark, try turning the machine completely OFF ( shutdown, disconnect the AC power, etc. ) give a an hour and start up again. Certainly a cheap 'solution', if it works. Hey, it worked on a DC-10!

Thanks for your help ill give it a shot did you really have to hardboot the DC-10 thats awsome.

I sure hope you weren't flying that DC-10 when you shut it off for an hour!

Never while flying! Only as a last resort on the ground. We called it the Electric Jet ( and this was before 'electronic' came into use! ). Sometimes several of the electro-mechanical relays would get stuck or our of sync. The easiest way to get things back in order was to remove all power and let everything 'settle down'.

Frankly, you might even have to remove the batteries from the Powerbook, also. And no need to wait an hour, five minutes should do it or not. I've been told that USB is particularly sensitive to power overloads, they just go into a self-protect mode. But I'm also fairly certain that the SuperDrive is not using USB to connect with the cpu. (S)ATA? Still, it's easy to do. That's my first priority on fixin' thangs! If'n ya kaint fix it with duck tape or bailen war, jist throw hit away down in one of tha gulleys! Help keep em from warshin away sum.
