It really did remind me of the Mac-PC ad. As a contrast, a few weeks ago--on a Saturday afternoon when I had too much time on my hands, after lunch, I ran out, bought Tiger, backed up my stuff, and had the installation done before dinner. I had but one problem. I couldn't get my Mac to find my printer!! I soon discovered that I didn't have the printer turned on.
That was pretty much the only issue I had. (RHP can vouch for the upgrade story--I sent him an email telling him I was thinking of doing an upgrade. My next email was to tell him it was done. 
)

Huh?! So, when you buy a new computer they throw in all new peripherals? Or do you just buy all that stuff new, also? Resting assured that the drivers for all that stuff will be already installed. Isn't that what the guy is complaining about, the search for drivers for most of what he already had working on the old OS? Somehow, I suspect this guys writes more than he thinks. 
And he just might even have problems installing a new Mac OS!

I was going to buy a new Toshiba laptop. A dual-core 2, 1 gig ram, 120 gig hd, but it had Windows Vista preinstalled on it.
After helping someone at school with their new Toshiba and Windows Vista, I changed my mind on making the buy of a new laptop.
The Vista is slow in a lot of areas, and LBCC has wireless connection, but Vista kept telling us that there was a hardware problem in relation to the wireless connection.
All the other laptops woth Windows XP are connecting without a problem at the college. I have heard of this problem from some of the students at school complaining about getting connected to the wireless set up at the college.
So I took my Toshiba, to school and sat with a few students and we couldn't figure out what the problem was. Mine connected right away without a problem; their laptop connected, but then the windows error poped up stating that there was a problem connecting.
I'm going to sty happy and content woith my 1 year old Toshiba, and not worry about upgrading right now.
I have the gut feeling that the newer stuff coming out is too problematic, and cheaply made. That's my opinion!
However, i'm most likely to just stay with Apple and not even deal with PC's on the market. My brother back east even told me that all the newer stuff seems to be to chaply made and way too problematic. So he had one built for him from his local PC store in Kansas.
Bottom line, it it's not broken, then don't try and fix it. Sometime I find myself jumping the gun and wanting the latest, hottest item out on the market, but Vista didn't seem to have that affect on me.
The hardest decision I have today is choosing between a tower Mac computer or a Mac Laptop, or get another iMac with the dual-core 2 on them, but I am waiting till June to see what will be coming out later in the year of 2007.
