Title: OT: What on Earth is this guy doing?

This is a person engaged in the making of the 1938 Walt Disney animated film of Snow White; but what is he doing?   eek2.gif

If I get some guesses I'll put the answer up; whether they're right or wrong.  If I don't get guesses I'll skip the whole thing!

Seems clear to me that he's ready to record the voice of the talking mirror.

Oh, man Mr. England got it in one; must've been too easy!  He's recording the voice of the "talking mirror" although a "talking throne" would've been funny.  There is a wonderful website called Modern Mechanix that is scanning all of those old Popular Science and Mechanics mags that got thrown out when my grandfather died:

Maybe he is looking at an animation cell with a viewing chamber over his head to black out all other light to improve the focus on the cell.
