PBS Great Performances. In 45 minutes. Here. Various tmes other places I assume.

Respect Yourself: The Stax Records Story
Stax Records in Memphis releases international chart-topping hits like ``Soul Man'' and ``Dock of the Bay'' between 1959 and 1975.

Cool. I took a look at the show credits, and sure enough, my old friend Rob Bowman is listed as a Consulting Producer on the show - not surprising, considering that he is considered an expert on the subject (see: http://www.amazon.com/Soulsville-U-S-Story...s/dp/0825672279 ) He teaches at York U. here in Toronto - there was never a more enthusiastic (and knowledgeable) music fan. I'm sure his classes are great fun, as I'm sure this show will be too. Hmmm...have to find it online, since we don't get PBS up here!

We get PBS in Calgary... huh.gif

I checked... it's even in the basic service, not in one of the tiers although I do have the 3 tier full service myself.

I didn't even watch the show, even though Stax is a local company. One of their 'finds' even has a house in town that people from all over the world come to worship visit every year ( on the 'King's' birthday ). rolleyes.gif I'm waiting until I have more time to make that visit. As in when a certain region freezes over! rofl.gif

Paddy... I had a look at Roger's site. Shouldn't you be getting PBS through Buffalo in Toronto on the basic cable lineup?

Mine is through Spokane... smile.gif

Er, yup - my mistake. I was thinking radio at first (don't know why, except that I spend/spent far more time listening to public radio than I do watching PBS!) and by the time I realized my error, it was over. Oh well. tongue.gif WNED is our local outlet - interestingly, it says "Buffalo/Toronto" under the logo on the listings for NY. There aren't any repeats listed at the moment, though there is a 4:39 minute Podcast, which I assume is what is posted at YouTube, since it's the same length.

I was not able to watch the full show on PBS.ORG.

Firefox 2.0.0.6 would quit about ten minutes into the 'movie' - since I had just installed this version of FF, I tried Safari, same result.

When I tried to use iTunes to 'subscribe' to the podcast, all the 'GET FREE EPISODE' buttons were non-functional.

Anybunny get to see the whole thing online?

Where please does one get to see the whole show online at PBS? huh.gif

I saw a about a 4 1/2 min. clip here: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/rss/vodcast/gp_stax.m4v

Won't even bother with iTunes, they don't give Canadians TV shows for free nor money... rant.gif
