Radioshift is different from other Internet radio programs that I have reviewed because it makes it possible to schedule and automatically record Internet programs in the background while you do other things. If a favorite program streams at 3am local time Radioshift can record it for playback at a more convenient time. Perhaps NPR's "Fresh Air" is on when you are at work and cannot listen; Radioshift will automatically record the program and you can enjoy it when you get home from work.
Adding a program to the schedule is as basic as it gets on a Mac: just click the "subscribe" button and the stream is added to your list of subcriptions. Radioshift can also be used to listen to a program that is currently streaming online.
Rogue Amoeba software and support is top-notch; their best-known program is probably Audio Hijack Pro, which allows the recording of any audio source on a Mac. I have found (and reported) one Radioshift bug that I discovered within five minutes of starting up the program: when Amsterdam, The Netherlands is selected on the world map, stations from Amsterdam, New York are among the options. Oops...
Radioshift can be used in demo mode for up to twenty minutes without any restrictions. After that the sound quality is degraded.
I am a huge fan of Internet radio... Gawd Knows U.S. broadcast radio is a mere shadow of its former glory days. (A couple of days ago while perusing the classical section of iTunes radio I stumbled upon Iranianradio.com, which only broadcasts uninterrupted traditional Persian music (Sonati). Imagine East Indian music with Appalachian mountain and hammer dulcimer overtones... Like a lot of countries Iranian politics may suck but the indigenous music is mesmerizing even if you don't understand the language.) I haven't decided yet whether I am going to register Radioshift as I have just begun subscribing to some stations, but if it performs as promised I doubt that I will pass it up...

I'm a big fan of the dulcimer and a lot of the sounds generated from that region.

You should consider downloading Radioshift and giving it a try; you're bound to find something you like. There is also a lot of interesting stuff available through iTunes. Sorry, no links to dulcimer music! I was just trying to describe the music that I have been hearing on Iranianradio.com. (BTW, I learned how to play the dulcimer around thirty years ago after attending a concert by Jean Ritchie at UCSC. I took lessons from and became friends with the late Albert d'Ossche when we were both living in Sanity Cruise, California. Al was co-author (along with Robert Force) of the classic "In Search of the Wild Dulcimer" which is out-of-print but it is available online for free at the link.

Does it still limit itself to Internet feeds, ala iTunes? I was hoping they somehow got off-air feeds, especially for NPR stations around the country. I really miss some of the 'talk' radio that our local stations dropped a few months ago. For example, "Talk of the Nation" now is available at 7 PM! Obviously a recorded version and not one that is available for 'talking' with the guests! 
It should be called "Recordings of the Nation!"

I like AHPro and don't see the need to add Radioshift in OS10.3.9. Maybe in Leopard?
