Title: SuperDuper not compatible with Leopard
Post by: pendragon on October 17, 2007, 06:48:37 AM
As of 7:08 PM, 16 Oct 07

From the SuperDuper Forum:

SD! is not yet compatible with Leopard. The current build was compatible with Leopard from back in February, but things have changed since then. We don't have the final bits, so we cannot test. A Leopard compatible version will be released when we have that final build and can complete testing...

I'm sure Leopard will be a good release. But... it might be a good idea -- as always -- to wait a little while to make a major change.

For me, operating without a backup is like driving without a spare tire...

...and no run-flat tires.

EEK. I may rethink my decision to install the big cat the day it arrives! Or install it on the MacBook Pro and the kids' machines and wait to do it on the G5.

Thanks for the heads up on this Harv - I will now keep an eye on the situation. I'm really surprised that Apple hasn't seeded a current build with Nanian and company!!!! (The rumors are that Apple still hadn't declared Gold Master as of the end of last week - one would imagine that they'd have had to now, in order to meet production deadlines)

I just used the new VERSION 3 of CarbonCopyCloner, an appl' that, in the past, I avoided.
I am now a big booster of CCC and have abandoned SuperDuper in favor of CCC.
I do not know for sure, but I think that it is Leopard compatible and still freeware.

You could use Time Machine until SD is compatable. Thinking.gif

Good point, Dick - I'd forgotten about it!

Interesting description here:

Looks pretty neat. But I'd want to make sure it worked with no glitches first! Luckily, I have two back-up drives, so I can try it out on one while still keeping the most recent SD backup (or CCC, as Flash suggests, if that still works) on the other so I can revert if all goes pear-shaped.

Interesting posts from Dave Nanian on the subject of Time Machine vs SuperDuper. Looks like they may in fact be complementary. smile.gif

I'll be waiting for SD! to catch up... this is a good reminder that being among the first to upgrade the OS isn't such a good idea. I'll let others do the "beta testing" for me...

CCC? I never touch it... I've had serious problems with it in the past.

Dave will have SD! up-and-running quickly. I'm Not Worried.
