Sears hairdryer:
Do not use while sleeping.
Any woman of a certain age will remember hair dryers with bonnets that were perfect for putting you to sleep. One of my sorority sisters nearly died in a fire because she was asleep under the dryer when the room next to hers caught fire. She never heard the alarm.

Bic Lighter
Ignite lighter away from face.
Reminds me of the train conductor I met who had a huge bandage covering his nose. He told a scary story of a friend who offered to light his cigarette (while on a plane no less) and the butane lighter misfired, singing his nose.
I can't imagine how stupid people were to actually smoke on airplanes...and use butane lighters... what was the FAA thinking?

Well, because of some committee's plan, smoking was prohibited while the aircraft was on the ground, you could only light up while in the air. Let's see getting out on the ground might create traffic problems for other taxiing planes...Yeah! Let's not allow that kind of problem. Smoking is only allowed while the aircraft is at least ten thousand feet above the ground. We'll just have to order longer hoses...
