Title: Can I install an application if I don't have the install disk?
Post by: jjoan on February 12, 2008, 02:06:57 PM
I have a G4 Quicksilver and an old G3 laptop, both are running OS 10.4. I have iPhoto on the laptop, and I'd like to install it on the G4. Is there a way I can copy that  application to the G4? I cannot find my iLife install disk. Both computers have firewire ports.

iPhoto is an application so it doesn't have to be "installed" in the strict sense of the term. Just connect the two Macs via Firewire Disk Mode and drag iPhoto from the G3 to the G4. Connect the Macs with a Firewire cable and then startup/restart the G4 while holding down the "T" key on the G4 keyboard. When a "floating" Firewire icon appears on the G4 desktop you are Good To Go.  The G4 drive will show up on the G3 desktop as a Firewire icon.
