Title: back up before ereasing....

Hi,


As my   internal disk as some problem ....what's the best/easiest way to know and copy  what's missing on my last back up on external disk before ereasing the internal...?

Best way is to use SuperDuper to get an exact clone. Some recommend Carbon Copy Cloner but I trust SD.
If you have the paid version of SD all you have to do is Copy Newer or Copy Different or Smart Update. Those choices will take much less time than a complete erase and install and are safer since the target is not erased.

Given that ADSR has been having serious issues with this drive, cloning it might not be the best solution. I think you need to open two finder windows - one for each drive - and start comparing. You can compare folder sizes using GetInfo as a starting point. Or, you could simply copy the portions of your User folder that you think are most likely to have new files/changes. It's less likely that you need to worry about Applications and System folders etc.

Copying from the finder  or whith SD copy newer (whitout system) is not the same ...?

Did you use SuperDuper to make this copy to begin with? If so, then using it would be the most efficient - but I'd just copy the User folder.

Then, once you've done that and have wiped the other drive and installed the OS and made sure all is ok, use Migration Assistant to move everything from your backup.

The back up  was not done whith SD...

Ereased the internal partition, clone whith CCC from the external firewire (tested ok whith DW)....run DW from it to the new clone and got the same  directory too severely etc...

Got the same problem on one partition on the second internal drive,
( test drive  on  2 internals ok , smart also !!! )

Changed  the internals a few months ago...don't know what's happening..what can i do ???

If you've wiped the drive and it still shows directory errors from a good clone then most likely the drive is not to be trusted. Only thing left if you want to try is to wipe the drive again and do a fresh install from DVD of the OS and see if it still has a directory error. If so then you are positive the drive itself is the problem and not the OS clone.
