The DA's can use any ATA drive that is under 128G. A larger drive will not be able to use the full space. However you can put in a PCI card controller for ATA or SATA and this will allow you to use nearly any size drive. I have two SATA controllers in my DA and run one 500G drive and two 320G drives. The SATA drives are faster than ATA.
A larger drive can be partitioned....?
What kind of SATA card do you suggest...?
Thanks

You can not get around the 128GB limit by partitioning. The hard drive controller chip is physically incapable of seeing more than 128 GB no matter how it's partitioned.
If you do get a SATA card, make sure the box says it is Mac compatible. As long as it's Mac compatible, you should be OK.
