Samsung announced a 250 GB SATA II solid state drive available in late 2008. See Visit My Website Samsung Solid State Drive. The drive is < 1 cm thick and uses 0.3 watts of power. It also has excellent performance - better than standard HDs.. No price announced. Assuming Apple will leap at the chance to buy these, there will be a major revolution in laptops. It certainly should give any one contemplating a new laptop pause.

The price may give one pause at first too, given that the 64MB versions of these drives sell for anywhere from $600 to as much as $1700 at the moment...

However, like everything else, the price is bound to drop quickly as the technology becomes more widely available! And it certainly does make for some interesting possibilities in the laptop world.
