Hi,
Gonna buy an external firewire/usb DVD drive for copying and backing up...
Are they all bootable? is there a special model to look for ?
Thanks

You should be able to boot off an external Firewire DVD drive.
I'd recommend one of the drives from Other World Computing, as that way you KNOW that you're getting a Mac-compatible CD/DVD drive inside the enclosure:

I also doubt that you'll actually be able to beat the price (certainly of the lowest price one, anyway) by building one yourself from an enclosure and a drive. BTW, the Superdrive for the MacBook Air is USB-only and will not work for you, in case you were wondering about that one.

Oops - forgot you were in France!
Yes, should be fine - there are reviews from Mac users at Amazon.co.uk:

It's a little bit cheaper at Amazon in France:
http://www.amazon.fr/Freecom-DVD-Recorder-...2864&sr=8-1
(make sure you get the 20X one - someone on the UK site commented that the cheaper model was NOT Mac compatible)
And once again, I'm reminded of how utterly lame Amazon Canada is compared to everywhere else...

That seems ok, i'll go for it...
