So I figured it might have reference to his name. But I've also seen it elsewhere so my theory was ruined.
As one word it is an accepted abbreviation for expedite or expedition but I really don't see how either relates to blogs.

So it seems I was right in my first thought. However I did find it also used at a MacRumors forum so I did a followup question to DeWitt. Answer yet to come....
