Title: Strange symbols when I type.
Post by: Fiona on May 15, 2003, 03:32:08 PM
iMac G3, 233mhz, OS9.1, 160 ram.

Recently, I posted that I was having trouble with the text on various  web pages on IE.  For example: question mark and quotation mark showed as É, apostrophe showed as è, up arrow shows as ? and so on. I was advised to change the language preferences in IE to Latin 1, which I did and everything is fine there. However, I am now having the same problem when I am typing a message: I cant figure out what the problem is. I updated Eudora and noticed the same errors as mentioned above. If I try to type something in Simple Text, the same thing happens. I must admit that I have been messing around with things, just like I knew what I was doing. Now, I am frustrated .   wallbash.gif

Fiona:  Have you tried deleting Keyboard Preferences, then going Control Panel>Keyboard and reselecting Script "Roman" and under that checking U.S.?

Thank you so much. I can now type isn't, didn't and ask questions?  What would I do without this forum?  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif
