I for one cannot wait for Obama's planned modernizing of health care communications. Fax? Nah, I'll bring over a hard copy in my horse and buggy.
Guess I should be like everyone else and drag them into work (we still get them for some things so i guess the doctors are not the only ones in stone age) but i paid for this external modem and it expect it to behave. Actually it has for quite some time but now it is dialing on its own. I recognize the number it rings up as a wrong one (a digit off) of one I use. It's a wrong number so no one is being woken up in middle of night.
Anyway, how can i make it stop? I had to unplug it (usb). Now when i replug it, it dials the wrong number. Then i i call up my doc, fax pdf and it goes through. A few mintes later the modem will start dialing the wrong number again and has to be spanked in the form of unplugging.
This is G5 flat screen iMac on 10.5.6. I don't know what application powers the external modem, which is an Mac one purchased at the Apple store.
Thanks!

I don't have a modem (although there is one built into the Brother laser) so I can't actually see one in the "Print & FAX" prefs panel. But that's certainly one place to look. I suspect it should also show up in the Network panel, too.

As far as the "app" that uses/runs the FAX part, I always assumed (dangerous as that may be) that the Print Dialog was where the actual info would be entered for sending one.

Thanks! Print and Fax panel it was. I just deleted the rogue job (made that way by me inserting wrong phone number). I could not get rid of this through the application interface. THanks again!
