Speaking of tips, I always make sure I have two new, shinny quarters when our MUG goes to our favorite restaurant after our meetings. I used to only leave one quarter, but with the economy in such a dump, I've upped it to two quarters, even though it is sometimes hard to find the new ones. I'm sure the waitress appreciates my benevolence because she always brings a clean towel every time she spills cold water or hot coffee on me.

We count ourselves lucky to have found a small family-run car repair business that we're recommending to everyone within reach of them. We took Caroline's Puma in there last Monday, suspecting a failing wheel bearing. Owner Nick brought out a trolley-jack and agreed with our diagnosis (jack up car, spin wheel....). We asked when we could book it in and he said 'leave it with me and I'll have it ready by 6pm'. We did, he did... and the bill was just over £90 ($140 US) all in.

I just keep < PathFinder>running. It can "see" any kind of file and handle it without making any OS visibility changes. And it can search anywhere you have electrons stored. Won't be as fast as Spotlight, of course. But SL can't "see" any more than you can manually, it just may have looked at more places than you would have.

Finder ...set to view invisible files works just fine. With it I can see everything on my drive. Sometimes the Tittle is hard to remember, or the type of file, or the date, but knowing any of the search criteria gets you very close and then it's just a matter of time. If you know it's a jpeg, look for invisible jpeg's, eventually one will be inside an invisible folder.
This stuff don't fall out of the computer, yes you can over write it but not likely in the short term. Most stuff get over written when folks start looking for it, and that no joy.
