I've been having trouble with broadband speed, yesterday top download speed was 17-28kbps
Today it's 58kbps, far less than the 300k advertised, and the 192k I normally get. upload is 131 (normal range)
I used this testsite to get my numbers, and this site has my download speed at 27k,
anyone else having a speed problem?
I use Earthlink, and called them, after a half hour of running through my system they concluded it was a backbone issue
and couldn't fix it until Tuesday.
Can anyone get to this site on a Mac?

Came up quickly for me, SB.
Good link.

Came up real fast SB.
Ran over to 9 -boot wise- too see and got a blank page.
Came back to Jag and got another blank.?.

I dumped earthlink AND DSL after one month. Speed was non-existent, and support was worse. Went over to Roadrunner cable and have had no problems - and great speed.

Hi SB,
I was going to suggest that the holiday weekend has a lot of people on the internet causing slowdowns in your area. But from what the others said, it may not just be internet traffic, but like the EL tech said it could very well be a backbone issue.
I don't know if you have access to cable internet, but right now from where I'm located (far out to sea) your two test sites listed are astonishingly fast (I use DSL Reprts myself, but the other site was telling me some great #'s).
One negative about cable access is it is shared, shared by computers and TV's too. Other than that, if there is a surplus of bandwidth, cable is fast! (Beep Beep!)

The second site said anywhere from 1800-3500, with great variation from test to test.
Anyway...it's fast, and I'm NOT complaining!!

Well that’s interesting, I can’t get that page to open.
I logged on today just to see if the problem was solved, how fast it was going, or if I got a response to my query, only to find a 58k dsl modem and some helpful ideas.
I tried once again to access that “whatismyip” site, but it didn’t open, what it did do was put an IP address in the Title Bar???
YOUR IP IS 4.08.123.456? whatismyip.com but the page never opened.
Well My IP was not the #.#.#.# as they suggested, but being a curious fellow, I dropped their #’s into the HTML address bar and got my Earthlink diagnostic setup page.
I had the program set my DSL modem to the NEW oddly acquired number, and I was off 936.8 K down and 131up.
This is tooooooo much goofy stuff for a holiday weekend, I think I’ll go lean on the bar!!

They . . . . call . . . . me . . . . speedy!

I have RoadRunner cable which I really like and have no trouble with. However, clicking on the site (using Safari) brought only the message that the page could not be opened.

All three of SBs links fly open with Camino.
-
Like others, all three referenced links opened in a flash (with Safari). My connection is via Comacst Cable with speeds (as just tested) between 1.3 and 1.6 megabits per second (down).
