Title: OT, but a little scientific
Post by: jcarter on July 24, 2009, 12:02:13 PM
Here is a little movie I made of the wind flow chart when the storm, this intense low that went over us this morning.  Went right over Cape Cod.
The weather guy called it, 'an unnamed tropical disturbance'.

Man, I was going to say what Krissel said but I think I fell asleep. I guess that the important thing about it is how everyone on the ground were doing when it was over!

Great job Jane....how about some tropical storm tips from Hurricane alley?

The longer lines are faster winds and the strongest part of the storm is on the eastern side or over the water. Land slows down the wind so the lines would get shorter where the wind is slower.

Your movie has the longer lines outside and shorter lines inside which indicates that the approach to the eye of the storm is calmer, but that's not the case. It can be calm inside the diameter of the eye though, so that part should be clear.

Now all you have to do is put on some high heels and smile a lot and you can be cape Cod's TV Weather Babe!!  toothgrin.gif

We got our first real day of summer as we know it today!
The whole gang were here, all the kids and grandkids. We all spent the day sailing and taking turns on the beach at the place we can take dogs.
Lilly is comatose at the moment, sound asleep with a full belly.
We are about to fire up the grill,,,,,,

I know, I grew up in Florida winters, we lived in Melbourne, then moved to Ft. Liquordale(as our dad called it).
Wonderful times, great climate.  Now that we dont travel as far as a month in Costa Rica or Belize any more, we might find a quiet? place in southern FL, for Jan and Feb where we could rent a little place(dog friendly).
Weve been looking at places in the Keys,,,,,, any suggestions?
Jane

Its so beautiful on Cape Cod in the fall, that we really dont mind even December, but Jan and Feb are cold and windy, and sometimes we do get a lot of snow then. Lots of ice last winter, as it was thaw and snow and rain cycle, ICK.
