Title: Picture taking

I have been trying to take a picture of the desktop, shift+command+3. The camera click is there, but the pic doesn't show on the desktop. Where did it go?

The desktop is the usual place.

The pictures have a name such as Picture 1.png, so do a Find/Search using "picture".

It might be hiding in a folder that is not on your desktop, most likely in your home folder or perhaps documents, one of those perhaps.
If you are using Snapz Pro, it will give  you the choice of 'send to desktop'. I dont know how the built in Mac one works,, but should give you the option of changing where it will be, and also if you want it to be a .jpg or other file.

if you try command shift 4  your curser will become "crosshairs" which you then drag as a  square over the intended picture and on letting go of mouse a pic will land on your desktop and will be titled screen shot with the day's date and time.http://www.techsurvivors.net/forums/style_images/new_en/folder_mime_types/quicktime.gif

You can also use Grab to "grab" any area of any screen. But they will still end up on your Desktop, unless you have changed that with some third-party app such as OnyX.

You want them to end up on your desktop so you dont have to dig for them.

Xairbusdriver solved the problem. Onyx was saving the pictures to my old desktop folder. I found the correct path and changed it and it works great now!
