...but all this talk of buying new Macs put me over the edge.
About 5min ago I placed an order with the Apple store for one of these:
Part Number: Z07B
Product Name: PowerBook 867MHz (12.1" TFT)
Options:
065-3653 867MHz PowerPC G4
065-3651 640MB DDR266 (128MB built-in & 512MB SO-DIMM)
065-3657 60GB Ultra ATA drive
065-3660 SuperDrive (DVD-R/CD-RW)
065-4124 Keyboard/Mac OS for SuperDrive - U.S. English
Product Name: Professional 12 Shoulder Case by Brenthaven
Product Name: AirPort Extreme Card
Product Name: Microsoft Office v.X Promotional Pack
Product Name: Video Adapter
As much as I'd love the new 17" PB, this purchase will be easier to carry...credit wise, that is...

Congratulations! Have fun with it! Now kps, if you find that you're having any trouble with making the move to OSX, make sure you post here. And remember--there are no stupid questions.
Perhaps you should check out the book by Pogue. (Actually, you probably could have written the book with Pogue.)

Rob, I intend to do just that...have fun with it.

Happy Leader Day!

KPS, In addition to sharing your joy and being incredibly envious, I can only add that my Cool Pad http://www.roadtools.com/ to be amongst my favorite accessories and it really does keep my PB cooler.

Thanks for the CoolPad tip, Harv. I'll see if Staples or BestBuys carries it up here.
Glad I didn't have to use that card for a 22" snowblower instead...
-
I'll second the CoolPad tip - I got mine at Staples. Nice when you're in a meeting and want to show someone something - just rotate the PB.
The Brenthaven bags are also great - I have been very happy with mine!
We'll look forward to getting a review soon!

Paddy, estimated shipping on or before March 4, so the review will follow soon after. I wanted to wait and see if the 15" PBs would be updated in July, but decided the 12" books were enough for my needs. Plus, got M$ Office at a reasonable price and QuickBooks for free. Will see how it'll work with my D-Link WiFi and G4 Tower and PC for file sharing.

Kps.
I watched a guy on one of those (think it was the same one) play some music last week.
I asked if it was from the internal speaker or speakers.
He said yep.
Wasn't to bad at all.

kps,
Enjoy!

Congrats, kps.
Depending on how much you fly these days, this is a really handy gadget/tool/whatever . . .
Fly Light

That's good to know Bill, my PC laptop has terrible speakers. I'm looking to use this as a true portable and not as a replacement for a desktop...never the less, good sound is welcome.

Not flying Dick, still verboten...and with a possible war on the horizon, I don't see that changing any time soon. During Desert Shield/Storm we flew lot of equipment over for the US military, so we may be a target.
Cool gadget though...
