Title: Census Scam Alert
Post by: RHPConsult on March 04, 2010, 01:39:36 AM
Today's warning

Worth sharing with family, friends, neighbors, whether next door or of the 'net variety.

Pretty soon some of them may be hearing from some woeful Nigerian widow . . . or something

Pay for the census workers is not bad.  It's over $18 an hour in my area. You also get mileage for use of your car.

You can check the rates in your area via this map:

I saw an ad on craiglist last week advertising for census takers. It was presented as being from the government, offered double what the .gov site lists for hourly pay, and the only ways of responding were either a craigslist e-mail address or a local phone number. It was taken down by lunch time.
