Title: USB Modem

I am getting ready to order a new 27" iMac i5.

My current Quicksilver 2002 G4 has a built-in modem.
I use it for sending and receiving FAXen.
Quite handy.

At one time Apple had a USB Modem available, but rumor has it that it is no longer available.

What's it called?
Where might I get one?
Would Snow Leopard support it?
What supportable alternatives are available?

All responses appreciated.

Here is one possibility from Other World Computing. I have no experience with it but I have had experience with this company. They are very knowledgeable and reliable so it might pay to phone them and ask questions.

I've ordered many things from OWC and also have been very satisfied.

One problem with the item you recommended:

Is there any FAX software for Snow Leopard?

I'm interested in this modem also.
As far as FAX software when you go to print you have in the lower left corner of the print window "PDF", it has an area showing FAX PDF, this is what I use when I need to FAX something, in the past I've sent it to my Pismo which runs 10.4.11, this has been a pain in the you know where. I've ALWAYS had to convert it to a PDF first which is not a problem, I wonder if using this modem I could side step having to start the Pismo up and then FAXING? I feel in my case it is worth a try!

This should work for FAXing out with no problem, but how about FAXing in?

Is there a "Print & Fax" icon in System Preferences: Hardware ?

Jack, I think that note is there because for Windows, you DO need software - on the Mac it's built into the OS. Also, for Windows, you have to install drivers - not so with a Mac:

I put the Amazon Belkin in my shopping cart.

Will order just as soon as I see if there is anything else I might want from Amazon.
