The reason you can't use color in the thread titles is because they are links whose color is controlled by the skin stylesheet (or in some cases  the user's browser's preferences).
Admins can change titles if you really need to do so.

I'm at work at present, but as soon as I can drag the other half off the Mac (she's writing a feature on the trip) I'm going to see if there's a way of "batch" converting pix with Graphic Converter to go on a web page. Takes an age doing one pic at a time!
