Title: Pink Firetrucks on the turnpike
Post by: gunug on October 27, 2010, 08:17:09 AM

This picture "isn't" from today but I passed a caravan of pink firetrucks on the way to work this morning on the Kansas Turnpike.  Fun and serious a the same time; like the "bras across the Kaw" back in Larryville!

Builders' supplier over here did a similar thing with four of their 18-tonne delivery lorries in support of Breast Cancer Campaign and Children's Hospices. They're usually dark green.

Driver with one of their subsidiaries told me the workers who volunteered to operate them were also given a pink baby-style bib and dummy to wear but "mysteriously, those all got mislaid somewhere...."
Can't say I was greatly surprised at that revelation! biggrin.gif

I guess I was thrown by this a little because of the "convoys" of trucks that I more commonly see out there when I'm traveling on a daily basis: multitruck commercial runs including those with obvious signs of being biohazard material, military groups coming through on the way to deployment or on the way back, strange cargo trucks loaded with big things under wraps and things like the blades of very large wind generators!  I have had my life profoundly changed by breast cancer (my mom is gone to it and my wife has had it) and it's nice to feel like something substantial (like pink firetrucks) is happening to fix it.  Thinking.gif
