Jane, I can see the index page when I go to jcarter.net - but you indicated that you'd moved the entire site to a folder within your jcdouglass.net site - a folder named "jcarter":

If you've done that, if you go to jcdouglass.net/jcarter you should see the index page for the jcarter site. But that doesn't happen - I get a 404 message. Are you sure you put the jcarter folder in the top level folder? (ie: the same folder with the index page for jcdouglass.net)?

Yes - I'm just saying that you've got an unnecessary number of folders in there; generally when one is designing for the web, one does NOT want people to see indexes (text listings of links) as you see with your site. However, as you've indicated now, you aren't intending this to be the permanent home for jcarter...
