I'm trying to install appleWorks 6 on OS 10.2.6.
I have the original disk that I bought. I have the updater disk image on my desktop.
Problem is as soon as I start the installer for AppeWorks 6.0, Classic asks to start up.
I thought it was an OSX program, at least Carbon not Cocao.
What's up?
Anyone know?
TIA

There's an Appleworks for 9.x and one for OS X.

Read this.
Important Information About the AppleWorks 6.2.7 Updater

Kelly,
I read that. i've been through the apple site all morning.
When I put my AW CD in to install 6 it starts Classic. Do you interpret that to mean I have to install it in Classic before I update it? Iwant it to run on OSX.

Gary. AppleWorks was out before OS X.

As it is it's going to run under Classic.
"If you previously installed AppleWorks 6 on your computer using the custom installation option, choosing only the "AppleWorks 6 application" and omitted the writing tools, re-run the installer, choose Custom Install once again, and choose to install the writing tools. This will ensure the AppleWorks 6.2.7 updater will perform properly."
Once you get it upgraded to 6.2.7 it will be an OS X App.

Thanks Kelly.

Kelly,
Apple should hire you as an interpreter.

It worked!
So there is a good reason for having Classic.......

Yes. It can come in handy for installing some software.

Even if you don't use it for anything else.
